Also known as a protein separator or protein skimmer, this equipment uses a jet injector to introduce air (or ozone) into the bottom of the treatment unit, generating a vast number of microbubbles.
As these microbubbles rise, their surface tension and surface energy allow them to adsorb and aggregate dissolved substances in the water, including biological flocs, cellulose, proteins, and fine particulate organic impurities. As the bubbles reach the water surface, they carry these pollutants to form a concentrated foam, which is ultimately discharged through the drainage device at the top of the foam fractionator.
Due to its exceptional efficiency in removing fine particulate matter and dissolved organic compounds, foam separation technology is widely utilized in Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS).
